Concussion Management

Dr. Bley and Dr. Voltz utilize a comprehensive approach to diagnose, manage, and treat concussions. A concussion is a temporary disruption of normal brain function. Concussions are considered a mild traumatic brain injury and generally non-life threatening. However, their effects can be detrimental to school, sports, work, and life. Early diagnosis and management is important to help prevent worsening symptoms or long-term complications. Initial evaluation may include a thorough history, physical exam, and neurocognitive testing.

Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists currently uses ImPACT for computer based neurocognitive testing. Baseline computerized testing is recommended for athletes over the age of 10 and may help in the management of future injuries.
